Playing more stuff in the same time means more damage, means less time for enemies to attack you. So even if you deck is just 3 base cards and 2 flow cards that deal damage that's enough to get you through world 1 and start world 2 (imo).Īfter getting a heal card, I'd switch out of misery, unless you want to go poison for some scaling (though even there I'd not add more than maybe 2 or 3 cards to the deck)Īlso, value mana regen items. Like I'd easily be at boss 1 with maybe 4 or 5 cards (I always remove that sword dash cause I really dislike it, but up to you). I'd even go so far and not pick anything that I don't want in my deck. So maybe try starting out with focus on Hearth (for the flow stuff) and Misery (for some healing). They all exhaust so they won't be in the way in boss battles, but getting 40 life back each fight can go a long way. Also I'd always try to get one heal card in the deck. So just have maybe 4 flow cards and see if that helps with dealing damage. With saffron I think an easy strategy is probably to go flow (though I'd avoid any card that cracks tiles on your end and doesn't fix it, since that usually makes me lose more life due to getting stuck at some point than it helps). I'd say they can very well be worth it (to some degree also perhaps to avoid a battle, if your deck is already good enough, as while you're not getting much exp, you might still get an artifact/money which is nice). Any type of distress in particular you can't find a solution for? the only way i manage to beat her consistently is with Reva's deflect, otherwise it requires pixel perfect dodges, especially on her bombs and her projectile spam where you have to dodge in the centerītw in regards to distress beacons: Every character has something to handle those in their base kit. The only boss i keep having trouble with is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Shopkeeper, like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I used Reva a couple of times and made good use of her deflects which made battles a bit longer but also manage to learned the enemies better. Some of the tier 4 bosses give me a bit of trouble depending on the build (Except Shiso, which in my opinion is the easiest tier 4 boss). This is the best way i learned the game and managed to do genocide runs constantly. Once i threw the boomerang to root them in place, i just spammed Q and W (spell keys on keyboard) like crazy and used the entire hand in one go, i could reach like 1000 hp damage per shuffle.Įven so, the best strategy i could advise is indeed to learn the patterns of enemies and bosses. Then i grabbed every mana regen and max mana artifact. Usually the safest runs i've had were the ones that i removed most of my 2-3 mana spells and kept most of the 1's, only higher cost card i had was the boomerang to root the enemies, i usually prioritized getting that card to -1 mana cost upgrade. It is one of the fastest paced ones i played. This game definitely threw me off the first few tries, despite the many roguelikes i've played. Seemed great for on the go, and in a sense it's quite nostalgic to how one could play the MMBN series on the GBA/DS. (Oh, and i got this on the Switch, not here, in case you wonder. Still only have the starter character, so, yeah. Been making a beeline for the campfire every zone but i should probably prioritize the store and heal there if i got the money for a potential medkit or dare the pacts (they remind me of the Chaos deals in Hades, heh). Well, atleast i did happen to read about things such as how bosses can be killed (i guess you get an artefact?) or spared and they just help out in their own way (seems sparing is the easier option?), and how rabbits aparrantly apply +1 (doesn't seem worth it with luck also increasing difficulty), and how red map markers seem to lead to a "dark route" with enhanced loot/enemies/bosses (gonna avoid that for now).īut if anyone has a good/general strategy to follow then yeah, that'd be neat. I hope.)Ĭould figure out the hard way what mana cost is, money (which i rarely get to spend), damage, and other card information but it seems hard to get a grip on what the general strategy is regarding routes, what's worth doing and what isn't (distress beacons seem ill worth it when one often lacks the required tool and has to react at lightning speed), and what would be a good growth strategy regarding weapons/artefacts (and if/when one should discard rewards). (Well, atleast this game doesn't have the instant-ally-regen&revive viruses with 300+HP with unavoidable AOE that requires a double/triple kill with 300+ DMG program combos!. The enemies also feel sometimes like you're playing a MMBN game and ended up in the dark/:P I suppose part of a roguelike is to learn, but this game does not explain anything.
